Senior Practitioner-Statutory Advocacy

We are seeking a senior practitioner to join Shine’s advocate team in a permanent capacity. We are looking for an experienced advocate/practitioner, who has specialist knowledge of intimate partner violence and family violence to provide practice advice for case consults, professionals meetings and FGCs; and advocacy and immediate support to adults, children and families and whānau in community and statutory settings.

You will use a multi-skilled and community-connected approach to provide timely and holistic responses to clients and their families and whānau.

You will work from our Kingsland office and from the Manurewa Oranga Tamariki site office. This role will support collaborative opportunities within multi-agency family violence responses in South Auckland.

This isn't your everyday job, so you will need to have:

  • A degree level qualification relevant to the social services sector (Social Work, Counselling, Women’s Studies, psychology)
  • A comprehensive understanding of the theoretical frameworks underpinning a coercive control and intersectional analysis of family violence
  • Has a good working knowledge and understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Working understanding of statutory requirements of Oranga Tamariki and the New Zealand Police
  • Experience of supporting staff to achieve high standards of family violence professional practice
  • Excellent self-management skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Commitment to developing and maintaining networks in the community
  • Knowledge of legal and social systems and community resources and how to use them
  • Skills with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel and a willingness to develop experience in other applications.
  • Has a clean drivers licence and reliable vehicle

The days and hours required to work are 9am – 5.30pm weekdays.
