Communications & Marketing Coordinator

We are looking for a skilled writer and communications expert to work in our Communications & Marketing Team to develop, write and coordinate communications for Shine.

The role covers a wide range of print and digital communications, including internal and external newsletters, media releases, fundraising appeals, video content, other web content, service collateral for clients and service promotion collateral.

This is a fantastic opportunity to hone your skills while making a difference and working within a dynamic organisation that achieves results.  


To be successful, you will:

  • Have a minimum of three years’ experience in communications, ideally including some paid or voluntary experience with a not-for-profit

  • Be able to write to a standard of excellence for a range of target audiences

  • Be a skilled story-teller, able to write up emotive stories from our clients about how our frontline staff help to transform their lives, in order to build support for and awareness of Shine’s critical work

  • Have an understanding of web development and content management, print production, and digital and print advertising

  • Have at least a basic understanding of the causes, dynamics and effects of domestic violence, including an understanding of power and control dynamics, and the relationship between gender and domestic violence

  • Demonstrate a positive, can do approach, with a track record of innovation and continual learning

  • Be focused and assertive, with a strong work ethic, and meticulous attention to detail

  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with a range of stakeholders including former Shine clients
